1939 Register information - good or bad
« on: Saturday 28 July 18 10:24 BST (UK) »
Busy sorting my Hellyars

and I was adding John Brenton 1881 Devonport the son of Betsey Hellyar and William Brenton.

NOT a close relation..   one of my odd 1 x 2 removed.. but needed to tidy the Hellyars line.. so thought  I would just add his birth and death dates and area of living.. nothing else too important.

So in the middle of doing that and Ancestry throw a hint at me regarding his marriage!
if I am working distants I dont add hoardes of their descendants.... no way.. But this marriage came up as a query.. so decided to check it out..

?!?!?  the marriage was to Fanny Hellyar --- (OK!!)  1920 in Devonport...

I thought I had a vague memory of Brenton to Hellyar, so added it.

Then went on to something else, and it kept niggling me.  I knew I had another Fanny Hellyar in my tree around the same year.  It is not (as we know) unusual to have cousins named the same.  Which does make the game so interesting :( :)

Anyway attempting to sort these two ladies out ... and then found the 1939 with Fanny Brenton and Eliza Hellyar -- together..

So still attempting to sort but at least that shows that the one who married John Brenton is the daughter of Eliza Ann Knight - Hellyar.. who was married to ... ?!....  Henry John Hellyar the son of my William and Maria.  or is it ?
I got up early today due to the rain waking me.. which was lovely to hear.. But now I think - back to bed.

heading for a mind explosion with this lot.

Don’t forget Fanny is also a diminutive of Frances, there is a Frances Ellen  Hellyar born in 1878.
