To help with searches:

Patrick Joseph O’Reilly (1877-1924) 19th Century poet and lyricist, best known for "For You Alone" and "Thanks Be To God".

Song from o’er the hill
Patrick Joseph O’Reilly
This was Ireland’s second setting of a text by P.J. O’Reilly, a poet who wrote the words for
a number of songs around this period, whilst he was working as a clerk in a music
warehouse. Composed in 1913...

If the date of death for him is correct, there is this death in 1924 in Dublin which would fit with an 1877 birth year https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1924/05041/4379485.pdf

No middle name to help. Also main occupation of Grocer. Very likely PJ would have been earning a living by some other means. Hard to say though if this death is connected.

From here www.cigo.ie/pages/guide-to-wills-and-administrations/ there is the Calendar of grants of probates of wills and letters for administration.

The year of 1924 shows three entries for a Patrick O'Reilly. The second I think is likely for the death of Patrick I linked above. His death was actually at the end of 1923. He shows a middle initial of 'J'.
The second Patrick shows as Patrick Joseph. Better candidate?
