clandestine marriage
« on: Monday 13 August 18 11:19 BST (UK) »
I am a Find my past member.

and still searching for a particular marriage. :( :(
came across the fact that it could/may be a 'clandestine marriage'

BUT  to view - I have to pay another £56.00 per year!!!

as if..

Is there any other way to view this ?? --- it may not even be correct.

it is a marriage between a:

Robert Newman born 1727  Orton on the Hill Leics.

and Jane Allyen (? spelling) born Hibbert similar area 1714.

I am searching due to the fact that though I have Jane and Roberts family.   I cannot find a marriage for them for the time needed.  Their first child was born  1747 - Orton on the Hill - her name was Mary.
I have the wonderful headstone of Jane Newman - she lived to be 102.  I have newspaper cuttings and baptsms for the children etc  Roberts death.

What I was - yet again - attempting to do - was take them back another generation.

I had come across a marriage of Jane Hibbert 1734 in Coleorton to John Allyn.. but never found more.  So now am on a serious hunt to tidy this 'floater' up.

Then I found this 'Clandestine' marriage of a Robert Newman 1741 ... and wondered.

I haven't any parents for Jane or Robert --- :(   :-X :-X :-X ::) ::) ::) been looking for many a year.

Xin,  There is a clandestine marriage for a Robert Newman on Ancestry in 1741 -he was of the General Honewood Troop of dragoons and married Elizabeth Coe

I wonder why FindMyPast want more money for this  ::)  You probably have one of their 'old' subs like me

I am not allowed to see it on FindMyPast either.  I have the original 'Britain subscription'

FindMyPast recently changed their packages and no longer do this subscription which also includes newspaper access.  BUT if you already have it and don't let it lapse they will renew it as it was with the newspapers but they are obviously adding some 'British' databases that I can't see  ::)
