I just found this on the Ipswich ceme site:

Cemetery search
Ipswich Cemeteries staff can provide assistance with the location and details of family burials.  A fee of $25.00 for up to six names applies.

 :(

Perhaps this is a new 'feature'?  ::)

Wow everyone is into making money from family history. I was going to suggest she email them after reading your earlier post but maybe i will still ring and see what they say. A lot of times it depends who you get on the other end as to how much help etc you receive.

I also did a long Trove search but came up with no death notice

I have the death record for:

John Spiers:  died and buried on 1 July at Ipswich by Rev James Paterson minister - Presbyterian. Parents are William Spiers (occ Porter) and Annie ms Welsh.  Died at Darling Street Ipswich after 2 days of croup, aged 4 years.  Born in Brisbane.  Undertakers name looks like George Dondew

Anne Isabella Spiers:  died 8 July 1871, buried at Ipswich  9 July by Rev James ?Crostly minister - CoE. Parents and address as for John.  Born Toowoomba.  Under taker as above.

Florence Agnes Spiers:  born and died 1876.  I have no further details on her but dates would suggest the family are in Ipswich and are living at either Darling St or Fifer Terrace.

Many thanks

Thanks for the extra info.

Hi,

Have you considered contacting the Queensland Family History Society.

https://www.qfhs.org.au/

I believe that the society hold comprehensive burial records for Ipswich, they do have a small research fee for non members but it might be worthwhile asking if they can assist before deciding.

I suggest you also contact the Ipswich Genealogical Society.  They have a comprehensive website including burial records for the Ipswich cemetery.  It may also be worth your while  and cheaper in the long run to join as a member, to gain access to records and their advice.  I am sure you would be warmly welcomed by them when you visit their office on your arrival in Ipswich.

I know from my experience at being a helper at another FH Society, we looked forward to helping our out of town members.

Best wishes.

Good evening giblet, this is wonderful news to come home from work to.  Thank you for your time and assistance. the Presbyterian C section is in the older part of the cemetery so that would make sense.  We may just go for a reflective walk around that part of the cemetery despite not knowing where they lay.  My visit to their parents graves Annie ms Welsh d 29.01.1899 (my line) and her husband Frederick John Spiers d 31.08.28 will be special especially as his anniversary is 90th anniversary is this month.

Thank you also to the two posts who suggested the local history and genealogy societies.  I have just done a google search to find they have 150th celebrations on while we are there - perfect timing and it will be a nice treat for those not in to cemetery strolling but who love history.
Thank you everyone

Hi
I would just like to say a big thank you for the posts above.  I had a very successful couple of hours visiting the Ipswich cemetery and then went on to the open day at the Cooneana Heritage Centre where I met up with some wonderful people who volunteer at the Ipswich Genealogical Society.  They are a wealth of information and were very generous with their time.
Again many thanks for adding a special dimension to my holiday in Australia  :D
