Do australian Birth indexs show Mother's maiden name?
« on: Tuesday 28 August 18 05:41 BST (UK) »
George MILLER and Mary had 10 children between Mary AMELIA 1861 IN Yass, New South Wales, Australia and Charles A. L 1881 Adelong, New South Wales, Australia
Is it possible that Mary's maiden name is given on birth indexes?
I only have the children's names etc from other on line trees and would like to see the records if possible to be sure they are the family I am looking for.
Hope someone can help
Many Thanks for your interest

The headings on the New South Wales bdm births index available online are:

Name
Registration No.
Father's given name
Mother's given name
Registration District

"Name" includes the family name, and the given names.

If you were to order the official transcription for the youngest child listed at the online index, that document will give you information about all the older siblings, as well as both parents, including mother's maiden name.

:) Each state has its own parliament, and retains legislative power to determine their own institutions, including their own BDM registrations.  There is no central registration body so no 'Australian BDM'

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR PROMPT REPLY. several on line trees are suggesting the father was using a false name I am wondering if this is the way to prove its the same man. I know who he married in 1859 in PADDINGTON NSW if his bride was the children's mother would that prove that he "became" George MILLER?

So he was Samuel Clark?

Why do you think he became George Miller?
