Hi Martin,

I agree with those transcriptions,  :) Good to see you seeking out primary sources, although I cannot see how that marriage links up to your South Australian DONOVAN ancestors, sorry.

One of Martin’s ancestors is a John DONOVAN, an Englishman who died aged 38 at Port Pirie, South Australia in 1910 …. See http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=799627.0   John DONOVAN’s daughter, Vera was just 6 or so when her father died.  Her oral history includes information passed on that John’s father was a Michael DONOVAN who was Irish and a Publican (see threads linked within the above thread).

The newspaper obit for Martin’s ancestor was not published until 17 September 1910.  He had died 12 September 1910 and the newspaper had announced that death here:

We regret to have to record the death of Mr Jack Donovan, a genial and popular member of the A.W.A., which occurred rather suddenly on Sunday night.  A reference to the deceased’s career will appear in our next.  here : https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/95241468

Looking at all alternatives until i receive my readers card.
The Donovan / Forde is the closest ive found in the date range. I have not found anyone in any of the free census sites Ire. or U.K. Unable to access any of the pay sites.
Will be posting a list of all i know in some sort of order soon.
