« on: Tuesday 18 September 18 13:41 BST (UK) »
Please could someone do a look up for me,

I am looking to see if  my gt grandfather Edwin Box born July 1888  Registration District Medway, joined the army at any point. If there is a record of him found I shall apply for his full record. I am new to searching for Army records and could do with a little help as I have found many Edwin Box listed but I am not sure which is the right one  - so a little gentle explaining appreciated.

I know that his son did also named Edwin box Born 1915

The Army records of Edwin Box born 1915 will still be with the Army. If Edwin Box born 1888 served in the First World War his records, if they survived the bombing in WW2, will be filmed and available on Ancestry.

Do the family have any medals belonging to the first Edwin Box? If yes his regiment and service number will be engraved round the rim of the medals.

I do see a number of Edwins listed for the time but I do not know how to tell which one is Edwins 1888 or if that's even him - Im quite new to the Army record search lol

Hi again, the Service Record of Frederick George in the Army suggests he waa discharged 1906, but he could well have joined the Royal Navy Reserve if he was born 29th March 1885 with mothers maiden name at birth registration Halls or Hales?

PS the Army record states he had a 6" × 3" scar on his chest and had numerous  tattoos?

Think he is a Fish Hawker in 1911 married to a Kathleen nee King
