Prison record, HMP Wakefield
« on: Saturday 22 September 18 10:13 BST (UK) »
Sentence for George Harrop, Nominal Register >1906 Oct-Dec. I found it hard to decipher the sentence for above, not simply the writing but the initials. I have no idea what they mean. Not sure of the first abbreviated word Obsg. or Oblg. oats tx(?) by f. p(?). 9 months
Also sentence for George Harrop Nov 1905 - Feb 1906 Oftq. or Offq. tea & coffee set by JP - 3 months H.L.
Would appreciate help. Thanks

I think that the 'Three months H.L.' would have been three months hard labour.

There are also entries in the printed Calendars for these years (on Ancestry) which confirm these offences etc. and give more detail.

Thank you so much. All is revealed.
I don't know anything about printed calendars on ancestry. Where do I find them?

They’re in the same database as the handwritten prison records that you’ve already seen - West Yorkshire, England, Prison Records, 1801-1914.

Go here ...
https://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=5085

Check Match all terms exactly (at the top)
Enter George Harrop (no dates, nothing else)
Should bring up 5 results. The last two are the printed Calendars.
