C.M.F. leave transit camp 71 Tibenham October 1945
« on: Monday 24 September 18 17:05 BST (UK) »
I believe this refers to what had been USAAF Tibenham, but which had been reverted to the (British) Air Ministry in July 1945. Aside from this reference in newspapers after a storm delayed flights and sailings after a storm, I can find no reference to Tibenham as a 'transit camp' (that expression is usually used to refer to Prisoner of War camps, not leave transit) Can anyone enlighten me or direct me to a reliable source of information please?

Are you sure that CMF Leave Transit camp is directly associated with Tibenham in the original document?

CMF is Central Mediterranean Force and there were transit camps all over the area of operations in all theatres of war to hold men awaiting demob and/or passage home and I have found passing mention of Camp 71 and others with other numbers.

Looking at the original would help?

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

Could the context suggest that CMF is this case was Citizen Military Forces (the "territorial" element of the Australian Forces?
