Death at sea
« on: Saturday 29 September 18 14:56 BST (UK) »
Hi I have tried numerous records but cannot find any trace of my ancestor who was a ships fireman on SS teutonic 1911 and according to "history" took ill on the voyage was hospitalized in New York and died. I have checked the ships records any many other records, also have checked New York deaths but no results! There must be a death certificate somewhere as his daughter received "outdoor" monetary relief from the seamans orphanage fund. Every avenue always ends with a dead end he was born in Ireland ??1859 on all his ships records his date of birth altered by a couple of years but place of birth was always Dublin cannot match any births there. the only other name  I have is father William (listed on his marriage certificate)  any help would be much appreciated. mags {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252

Hi Annielou and welcome to Rootschat.......It might be a good idea to give his name and any other info that you have in order that a search can be carried out. Not sure what the gobbledegook is at the end of your message  ???
You could try asking on the forum here:

RE  Michael dollard D.O.B  abt 1859 D.O.D 100% 1911. If he died ashore in New York there would not have been a headstone from his daughters side as she was now an orphan with no known relatives anniedoll

Forget my reply I made above.  Wrong one!  ::)

The one I should have looked at was born in Ireland but his parents are Martin Dolland and Mary Hambely.  Buried on 10 July 1908 at Mt. Calvery Cemetery.

Died in Keogh Hammond Hospital, Salt Lake City.
