2nd Marriage? or not.
« on: Wednesday 03 October 18 17:27 BST (UK) »
Looking for a marriage between William Marshall and Elizabeth Crabb. William divorced his 1st wife Annie Hunt in 1899. He was born 1860 in Southwark. He paid £36.0s.8d. for his divorce and I think already living with Elizabeth at this time. 1901 they were living in Southwark. Tried looking for this 2nd. marriage but just cant find it If he went to the trouble and expense of divorce surely he would have made an honest woman of Elizabeth! In 1911 Elizabeth is listed as a widow and states she had been married for 24 yrs which was stretching the truth a bit. Anyway would appreciate any help.
Thank You

EDIT

Just checked GRO and all have mmn Baldwin?  Have I got the wrong 1901 entry?

William Marshall and Annie Hunt married in 1877 which would mean William was only 17yrs old if b 1860.  Is that correct?

Where did you get Elizabeth’s surname as Crabb from?  Was she named in the divorce?

What is her birthyear and birthplace?

William appears to have died Sept qtr 1901 aged 41

It would be useful to know if William used a middle name or initial.

A search on FreeBMD for the Southwark parishes has several William MARSHALLs born 1850-1863, but only two without middle names: Mar qtr 1861 St Saviour and Sep qtr 1861 St George.

Both spouses alleged adultery as against the other.  Fred Dean and Elizabeth Crabb were the respective third parties named.

Is this Elizabeth living in Essex and born in Deptford?
