What was his full name?  Area of England he married in/lived in?

www.nationalarchives.gov.uk catalogue has the application of naturalization of (just searched for 'Macridis')

MACRIDIS, C Date of birth 30/04/1903

Because the covering dates (1952 Jan 01 - 1961 Dec 31) are more recent you will have to petition for the information to be released to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  (If you are a direct relative for example they might be willing to release it, etc)

If he ever sailed on British ships there might be records for him in the 4th or 5th Seamans register:

Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Hi,

Name is Constantinos Macridis, married in Cardiff s wales in June 1945 to Irene
willis. He was a cheif cook in the greek merchant navy, father christos. This is what
I obtained from  my birth cert(down as father) . I dont have any more info, but did
get someone to check the natralization but couldnt find anything.STRANGE he also checked the seamens register for the early forties  but nothing. The marraige didnt seem to last very long so could have been 'a marraige of convenience'.!!
It sounds like  writing of To Kew for info might be my only lead.
Where did you obtain the name and birth by the way, thats new to me.
Thanks again, my first lead since I started searching 3 years ago. tgw

I think these more recent indexes may only have been released a little while ago, so possibly when your friend checked they weren't available yet.

Full name originally may have been 'Konstantinos Makridis'?

Hi,

You are possibly right about the time and also I understand
the greek alphbet doesnt have any 'c' in it therefore the spelling could well be as you said. All docs I have are spelt with a c, but I always check the other spelling. regards tgw
