Help With Translation

Hello everyone,

When my great great grandfather Lewis refused to give up smoking and take a drink instead on his doctor's orders, his doctor informed him to 'die and be damned'.

My grandfather once spoke of this story and told us the phrase in Welsh, however he has been dead 15 years and we have no idea what the phrase in Welsh would be.

Could anyone help me on this?
