William TROTT and Martha IVORY
« on: Monday 26 September 05 04:10 BST (UK) »
This would help me a lot.

Please can any one help me find the ancestors of William Trott who married Martha Ivory in, I think, Gt Gaddesdon and Nettledon ? The date of the marriage would have been about1770.

Thankyou in advance. J

Hi Janet,

A search for  christenings for the surname Trott at Gt.Gaddesden & Nettleden found 12 entries for the period 1747-1799 on IGI Batch C136101.  The only entry which could fit was William Tratt  22 Nov 1747 s/o John Tratt and Jann.  This was the only entry transcribed other than Trott.

A similar search for Ivory found 44 entries for 1742-1813 in the same IGI batch. The entry was Martha Ivery 06 Jan 1750 d/o Joseph Ivery and Elizabeth, once again the surname was mistranscribed.

There was no record of the marriage at GG&N for the couple.

Perhaps you can use this as a starting point for further investigation.

Regards   ...   Peter
