Henry Thomas Lugg
« on: Saturday 17 December 05 20:25 GMT (UK) »
I have lots of Luggs in my family tree, but have hit a brick wall on finding Henry Lugg's parents (AKA Thomas Henry).

I found that he married Annie Lugg in 1849 in Helston, he was born in 1826, I have found his monumental inscription too  according to the many census he features.  I have details on here:
http://www.craftsbycarolyn.co.uk/tree/treefront.htm
(Ignore the reports they are for my Mum and not up to date!)

He seems to have spent most of his life from 1841 in Gunwalloe, he did live in Mawgan for a while.  I can find a Henry Lugg living with the Oppy family as an agricultural labourer in 1841 census aged 15.   Maybe there is a link to this family anyway.

Any idea where or how I can start looking for his parents?  I have just ordered the marriage certificate, so hope this will give me some info, but any other would be great.

Just to let you know I have the marriage certificate, just came today.  Father is Edward Lugg, and it looks like he was living in Brepper at the time of his marriage, I have located a Lugg family in the 1841 census from a link on genuki living at that address, although he doesn't appear to be there in 1841.

One of the witnesses was Grace Hendy Lugg.

I will have a search round at the weekend and see what else I can turn up.

Thank you for all your replies.

I wonder if anyone can offer their advice, the information I have as follows:

Henry Lugg M Ann Freeman 4 Mar 1849, residence at the time was Berepper, his father was Edward Lugg and his occupation was a shopkeeper.

I have had a hunt around the census records and can find an Edward, b 1798 that died in Gunwalloe which is pretty much the same place as Berepper - but he is an ag labourer on all of the records.  Is it likely that this could be the same person and I shouldn't worry too much about the occupation?

One of the witnesses was Grace Hendy Lugg that is a daughter of Edward.  This Edward was born in Ruan Major and I can't see anything on any of the transcribed parish records about this man either.

I didn't have that one - not sure why.  Thank you, it all goes to add more evidence to the fact I have the right Edward, just odd about the occupation.  Shopkeeper does not seem to feature in the family at all anywhere.
