How can I include a quote in my reply ?
« on: Monday 10 April 06 07:59 BST (UK) »
Sometimes it's usefull to quote a (part of a) previous reply, especially when many people are contributing to a topic.

There are several ways of doing this.

1) quote button
- Go to the reply you wish to quote and click on the "quote" button
- a "reply" window will open, with the contents of that reply
- if you don't want to quote the whole message then delete, the un-needed bits
- position the cursor after the final [ /quote] tag and press return,
then enter your text
- you can also position the cursor before the starting quote tag and add  text there.

2) "by hand"
- Click on the reply button
- click on the BCC quote tag (bottom line, second from right) which gives you this [ quote][ /quote]
- scroll down the page and mark and copy the bits of text you want to quote
(just for an example: don't just stand there, like one o'clock, half struck ! )
place your cursor between the ] and [ brackets and copy it in
e.g.
Quote
don't just stand there, like one o'clock, half struck !

and if you want to accredit it, then write ' author=Berlin-Bob' between the [quote and the ]
e.g.
Code: [Select]
[quote author=Berlin-Bob]don't just stand there, like one o'clock, half struck ![/quote]
which gives you:
Quote from: Berlin-Bob
don't just stand there, like one o'clock, half struck !

Thanks for that Bob,very helpful!

Since I joined in 2004,I've always wondered how to quote lines from different posts on the same thread.... I should have asked I guess! ::) ::)

Easy when you know how!

Cheers,

Mick ;)
