Hi all
Does anyone know how I go about getting a coroners report for a suspicious death in Chester in 1949

Hi

What does the death certificate say, if it was a case for a coroner then the certificate will give some details, and tell you which coroners office was responible.

You could try the local studies library who might have a copy of a newspaper report of the inquest - but wouldn't the actual coroner's report itself be subject to a 70 year rule or something similar?

Hi Layreader and peter , i have been in touch with boltons coroners office in the last few weeks .i found them very helpfull .i had to wait a little time for what i needed to know ,but that was because they had to find the record i wanted . you can all so try the police .if the death was suspicious, there has to be a report on it.all i could say ,is have all your names and dates at hand ,it makes it easier  when you talk to them .if you don't they try to fob you off and you never get the same person again . you could also look in local paper
good luck
migky
