Limerick Ancestry Lobby
« on: Tuesday 16 May 06 12:12 BST (UK) »
Since Sharon posted this link on Rootschat I have found some useful leads.
http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/csi/csi.cfm?CountyID=1
for which I would like to thank her  :D
The Limerick board has at the moment closed , you can still see the names that have been indexed.
I wrote to this feedback link,
http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/csi/feedback.cfm
and asked if they intended restarting the site, this was the reply
Quote
Thank you for your query regarding Limerick Ancestry. Talks are currently in
progress regarding its re-opening. And until this happens I can't say if any
further records will be added to the existing database

May I suggest all of you who are researching in Limerick create a demand   :P and do the same.
Thank you
Patricia  ;)

The ancestry center was a joint venture by Limerick city council and Limerick county council.
It closed February 4th 2004, due to lack of funds from these sources.
The two council website are as follows:

http://www.limerickcity.ie/

http://www.lcc.ie/

I would suggest for now posting your support here (please just post support, not discussion so a proper tally can be formatted at the end). Please include your first name and city/country.
If we get enough posts here I will forward this thread on to individual councilors and local newspapers.

Please add my name to any list/petition that is sent.
I'm pretty sure that Limerick Ancestry as was, have in their possession some of my Bailey records, so yes, lets do all we can to get the place reopened and back in operation!
Good idea!
