Mystified by "Quotes"

Sometimes when I send a private message on RootsChat a few hours later I get a message back from the receipient, this is just a quote (in a blue box) of the message I sent a few hours earlier with nothing else contained in the message - what does this mean or indicate?

Funnily enough I was having this discussion today!

It turns out that if you read your Personal Messages by opening an e-mail link, read the PM in a box similar to the one that it was composed in, then hit the "send message" button, it sends the PM right back whence it came - only in a blue "quote" box as you describe.

When this first happened, I thought someone was trying to tell me something!  It seems though, that the recipient is often unaware that they are doing this.

I usually look at PMs via a pop-up on rootschat, and the "send message" button is thus not visible.

At least, that is what we think happens...

I've received similar messages and in many cases a later message asking a question, replying to a question or thanking me for a reply to a query arrives.
