Hi BerylM,

Welcome to RootsChat  :) :)

Is this the topic you were looking at ??

Topic: Tenterden Parish Registers
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,87371.0.html

If so, then the reason that you couldn't reply is that the topic is locked.
All lookup offers are locked; if you wish for a look up, then please start a new look-up request, with Tenterden in the title.

If it wasn't this topic, please could you tell us, which one so we can investigate further

Thanks  :)

Enjoy RootsChat, and Happy Hunting !
Bob

Hi Bob
Yes it was, and,  yes it was locked.
I hadn't gathered that at the time.
(I went back and fiddled, and I think I managed to send a message).

I am sure this is going to be fun
I  bought a book on genealogy on the Internet, which told me about your site.

Is there any way of searching for specific families, without looking at every
posting?

Hi Beryl,

congratulations  :)  that was the first step, there'll be no stopping you now  ;D ;D

Which book did you find us in ??

If you are searching for unusual names, just click on the Search RootsChat button at the top of the page and enter your name
If it is a bit more well-known, after clicking on the search button, you can click on Advanced Search and enter your name.
At the moment all boards are checked. At the bottom of that page, click on the Check all button, and they will all be unchecked. Then click on just the  boards you are interested in (usually a particular county or counties) and search those.

Another possibility:
at the bottom of every page is a link to the Surname Interests Table.
Enter your surnames there, and check who else is searching for "your" names.

Good luck,
Bob

Let's hope so!  :)

If you have any specific requests, post a message on the appropriate county board.  There are loads of RootsChatters out there who might be able to help and only too pleased to do so.
