Dear Rootschatters, Trying to fill in some gaps around this family:-

Vincent JUKES or JEWKES born abt 1800 Kingswinford, West Midlands, England
married 1827 England to Frances SOUTHALL born 1804 Kingswinford etc.

The couple emigrated to Australia and must have settled in Victoria, as I only have details on one child:-

Mary JUKES born 1834 ... whereabouts?  (Mary went onto marry Richard Thomas DALDY and had 11 children.)

Q.Did Vincent & Frances JUKES (or JEWKES) have any other children other than Mary?

2.Not sure if my Vincent Jukes remarried.    I'm going sideways in my family tree and these people weren't my ancestors, so I shan't be purchasing certs.

YES  ........Frances JUKES died 1877 aged 73 ... now this one is a real possiblity.  I have Frances SOUTHALL (lots of spelling variations to this one too) born 1804 (your figures 1877 - 73 = 1804 so could be same person) marrying Vincent JUKES or JEWKES.  I can't confirm that she was born at Kingswinford, West Midlands, England but her husband definitely was.

Q.Where in Victoria did Frances JUKES that you found die?

4. YES  .......Vincent JUKES was born abt 1800 (1874 - 76 = born 1798).  And I think without checking that Kingswinford is now in what is called Staffordshire.


Ok, now I'm stuck because I can't even post a message on the Staffordshire board at Rootschat because even though the family married in England in 1827, they were already in Victoria, Australia by 1834 as that's when their first and only known child {there were probably heaps more} was born.

Q.What do you suggest?

Hi Ally,
On my CD for Victoria from 1836 to 1888 there is no birth on a Mary Jukes or under Jewkes OK so may be she was born at sea not shore.

A to your Q 3:
It dose not say where Ally it only give your the year: 1877 and REG number: 11535. and Birth Place as: Staffordshire on the two deaths of Frances and Vincent Jukes. On the CD called Pioneer Index. Victoria 1836 to 1888 OK.

The Marriage:
2. VINCENT JEWKES Marriage: 06 FEB 1827 Kingswinford, Stafford, England

The Birth or Christening
1. VINCENT JUKES 13 JAN 1799 Penn, Stafford, England
as to his Death in Australia being the son of Vincent Jukes + Sarah Willington.
Parents:   VINCENT JUKES and SARAH
