Hi. Can anybody let me know where I could find this man on the 1914-1918 absent voters list.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Dud,
I don't have knowledge of this 'absent voters list' you speak of but the best way of finding out his service number & regiment is at the National Archives, either by finding his service record or checking the Campaign medals list.

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Here on Rootschat there is an Armed Forces Resource page where I'm sure many experts hang out & would be happy to help.

Hi Dudjac

By far the majority of absent voters lists that survive are only available in the local county archives/main local studies centres for the area concerned.  As part of the electoral roll for 1918/1918, you will need to know his exact home address at the time (1918/1919) .................. there aren't usually any name indexes and they are arranged street by street per town/village etc..
