Can someone point me to the instructions for shortening over-long links?

that is read as "tiny url"   ;D

Nothing against tinyurl, but one reason we are promoting http://www.rootschat.com/links/ is that if someone reports a broken link to us, it is easier for us to do something about it if all the details are on RootsChat.
