Well done...Janice & Jorose...Memorial cup in 1941...
http://www.chl.ca/CHLMemorialCup07/rosters.html

I like your discretion in not posting the photo on here directly, as this may be a
living couple (This site is supposed to be for those who have passed away)

I am not sure if posting a photo of them in the paper would be the first thing to
do...( although as a celeb, he may not mind)...  but I am sure if you write to the
Manitoba Bisons above ( Winnipeg Jets are no longer a local team) you could find
out more about him.
all the best,  J..J.

Oh, and.... welcome to rootschat!

Thanks J.J.  As I said, I'm something of a newcomer to all this, and there may be elements of etiquette which I'm not quite up to speed on.  I would hope, though, that if Bill is still alive, he would not object to a cousin in his home town taking an interest (and considerable pride) in his career.  I shall, however, tread carefully, and I am completely open to advice on how to proceed.  Many thanks to all of you who have shown an interest.

Edited much later to spell "etiquette" correctly!

jorose - had a try at www.ourroots.ca, and I couldn't get it to work when I selected the English option.  However, I selected the French option, then when the page loaded, I clicked on where it says "our site is completely bilingual - to see English version click here" and hey presto!

Hi Lula,

Just wondering if you have the passenger list document for this couple coming to Canada? If not, what I usually do is go to the FindMyPast website at http://www.findmypast.com/passengerListPersonSearchStart.action to find out when  my ancestors came to Canada, and then go to our national archives to find the passenger list image. The National Archive addy is http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/lac-bac/search-recherche/anc.php?Language=eng. This has helped my find my g-granparents and family in 1907 as well as other ancestors' immigration to Canada. By the way, if memory serves me correctly, I believe my grandfather and my uncle also worked for Dominion Glass in Hamilton back in the 50 and 60s. I hope this info helps you out :-)
