John Robson born 1839/40

Hello All

If anyone while checking the parish Records come's across the following
Baptism would they please let me know as I cant find his Birth
Registration or Baptism, I have had all the John Robson Birth
Registrations checked from 1837 to 1841 but he is not there.

John Robson born 1839/40 Parents John Robson & Eleanor Urwin.
his siblings were
Robert born Newcastle 1827
Jane born Newcastle 1829
Mary Ann born Norton Co Durham 1831
Elizabeth born Norton 1833
Douglas Born Newcastle 1835
I have all the above Baptisms
in 1841 the family lived at Hetton-Le-Hole  John was aged 1, John had
a
sister Margaret born Oct 1841 in Hetton, her Birth is registered.
in 1843 Armstrong was born in Hetton I also have his Birth Reg.
   
  in 1846 Richard was born and died in at Hetton 1846 his Birth and
Death are Registered.
   
  Both  Armstrong and Richard were baptised together in July 1846 at
Hetton, as well as not having Johns Baptism I also do not have
Margarets
it could be they were Baptised together in another Parish,  as surely
they would have been Baptised with Armstrong and Richard.
 
In 1851 the family are living in Sunderland John is aged 11 born
Sunderland I have checked the Baptisms he is not there.
John married Eleanor Ann Hall in Jan 1860 in Sunderland, he died in
1865 age 26, the burial records say 25  John is my direct Line his
Birthdate and Baptism is a Brickwall.
Maybe someone has an idea on this.

Hi

Have you tried ordering any birth certificates? there is a birth of a John Robson registered in Sunderland in 1838. You could condition the order to only have the cert if the father's name matches. I will look through rest of registers later.

Best of luck.. my great granny was a Robson so I know how tricky they are!

Thanks for your reply, the 1838 John Robson has been checked the parents were John Robson a Bottle maker and Jane Calvert.
my John Robson said his father was a Joiner when he married in 1860.
until I find my John's birth I will always be unsure, why leave one child out of 10 not Registered and no sign of a Baptism.

Hi John

If all else fails.. from a book I have.. "Many births were also not recorded during the early years of civil registration. Parents were only legally obliged to inform a registrar of the details of a birth if the registrar demanded them".

I too have hit brick walls similar to yours but I guess some records may also have not survived; it's most frustrating but I suppose the important thing is you know they were born because you have evidence of them living and dying.

Not to say your search is over though.. I am sure something will come up.. everyone is looking things up for you

What I find odd is that there is also no sign of a Baptism.
