Dishonour aimed at war vets...
« on: Saturday 24 March 07 17:51 GMT (UK) »
an update! Revisions will be made...and a chance to voice your opinion ! see reply #2

Canadian War Museum - Canada's National Museum of Military “History”?

Although this plaque is here in Canada, it affects all...Please show the power
of rootschat by reading  and responding in some way...I have locked it to replies
in order that it may remain on the site, though. I also cannot print the wording on
this plaque, but there is an excerpt in the link below....
When I first read this, I asked if I might start a thread on it to heighten awareness
of such hurtfulness aimed at our beloved war veterans...but am not allowed to due
to its controversial nature, and I understand that wholeheartedly, as there would be
flaming and hard to control emotion in the responses...  but there is still a need to
get the word out as the disgrace continues!!!!!
As the daughter of a war veteran, I cannot describe the hurt that this has caused
my father and his fellow members of Bomber command.
You would have just needed to see his face...and looked into his eyes...

I hope that the concern and concerted efforts of those that care will have this wording
removed to balance the burden of blame or have this plaque removed once & for all…
and to also label the surrounding visuals as the horrific consequence of the situation
not the direct result of any one group’s involvement.

Contact your newspapers....Write our Prime minister...Write any Minister...
(Canadian tax payers have paid for funding, who never had a say in this)
(Removed suggestion of writing to the War museum as they will likely just garbage it. *)

 Please read first... http://legionmagazine.ca/frontline/editorials/06-11.asp

* Where the issue stands to date… "historians" opinions matter...
Veterans opinions don't, apparently...

The plaque is being revised! Thank you so much to all who responded.  :D
Pressure is finally getting results…but I am sad that many men have gone to their
graves insulted by projects like this one...
Sorry to have kept this topic locked…but here is your chance to comment with your
opinion…The site has a moderator, so I am sure total flameouts will be blocked…

Here is the newspaper debate that got the site going:
Vets vs. historians
Is the Canadian War Museum a place to honour soldiers or discuss history?

Re: forum discussion whether or not Canada’s War Museum display & Plaque wording dishonours WW2 Veterans….
I WAS WRONG…the site is very poorly moderated…but I am sure the veterans and airmen who read our input will be glad for our support! There are a few airmen answering it so far….and I am sure others will read it…
