BTF's Scavenger Hunt.....Everybody Welcome To Join In.
« on: Tuesday 12 February 08 23:40 GMT (UK) »

Welcome to this weeks Scavenger Hunt and it's the turn of Behindthefrogs to find missing rellies.   This weeks is a little bit hard, but I'm sure as with all the others, information will be coming in fast and furious.

Here you go.

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

                                    ************************************

William Wilson was baptised 17 Feb 1827 at Winwick Northants and married Martha Williams born 1826 Sutton in the Elms, Leics . In 1841 he was an agricultural labourer living in Winwick.  1856 Jobbing Labourer, Clifton Road Rugby.  1861-78 Engine Driver Spoilbank Rugby.  1881 & 1891 Innkeeper “The Engineman’s House”, 1 Spoilbank, Rugby.

Children

George Henry Wilson born 19 Nov 1856 Clifton Road Rugby, bapt 21 Dec 1856 at Rugby Holy Trinity, married Mary Elizabeth Matthews 25 Dec 1878 at Newbold on Avon Parish Church, Long Lawford. In 1861 he was living at Spoilbank, Rugby.  In 1878 he was a Labourer in Long Lawford.  In 1881 he was a tinplate worker living at 33 Buckingham Street, Wolverton and in 1891 and 1901 at Newport Road, New Bradwell, employed at Wolverton Railway Works as a Tinsmith. He died on 10 Jan 1935 at 102 Victoria Street Wolverton Bucks a retired Tinsmith.  This is my great grandfather.

Sarah Anne Wilson born Q3 1858, bapt 14 Aug 1859 Rugby Holy Trinity, dressmaker married at Rugby Holy Trinity on 17 Feb 1889, Henry Troop an engine fitter at a brewery (who was born 29 Jul 1858, bapt 18 Sep1858 at North Clifton Notts son of James Troop and Elizabeth Cropper and died 19 Jun 1936 in Birmingham). In 1881 she was a dressmaker living with her parents.  Their son Alfred was born in Blisworth in 1889 and George at Leighton Buzzard about 1889 which is consistent with Henry’s job at the time of being a signalman.  In 1891 they were living at 162 Oxford Street Rugby.  They were living in Rugby in 1901 but later moved to Birmingham with Alfred and his wife Margaret (?) as they were both buried at St Giles Sheldon.

Alfred James Edward Wilson born Q2 1860, bapt 25 Aug 1861 Rugby Holy Trinity, married 31 Aug 1891 Martha Ellen Moss Rugby Holy Trinity.  In 1881 he was a Railway Porter lodging with Henry Wells a signalman, at 20 Station Road Ilkeston Derbyshire. In 1891 he was a Railway Brakesman lodging with Sarah and Henry Troop at 162 Oxford Street Rugby.

Caroline Augusta Wilson bapt 27 Sep 1863 Rugby Holy Trinity.  In 1881 she was one of ten servants at a boarding house for 50 boys aged between 13 and 18 from Rugby School, which was run by Christopher Hutchinson clergyman and school master

My problems:

Who was Martha?  When did she marry and die? Who were her parents?

In 1841 she is possibly living with Edward Taylor at High Street Rugby and in 1851 is a servant at 27 Sherriff Street

The 1891 census shows William married to Mary born in London.  Who was she?

What happened to Caroline Augusta Wilson?  Did Alfred have any children?

Ok scrap the newbury lady, she married Thomas D Langford and was born the Q before CA Wilson in Rugby  (both 1863) she's on the 1881 with hubby Thomas D.

There are only two births of a Caroline Augusta Wilson since 1840 on freeBMD both in 1863!

So was it BTF's Augusta in Keighley in 1893?
