Chas, I can do without all the sarky remarks. I use this site as a last resort when I have exhasted all my own research and come up against a brick wall. If you can come up with any usefull info it would be appreciated.

so Scorpio - what was it you wanted about her? Have you now found the marriage you were asking for?

you say you have a marriage from freeBMD - getting the cert will establish if it is the right Minnie Chappel(l)    (there are several around when I looked for the 1881, incl one that WAS born Bristol, but father William).

Or - when was it? if before 1901, then can we find her on 1901 with hubby.

Have you got her on 1891? 1901?  the family in 1871? etc etc.

As Arranroots said - tell us a bit more of what you have got, and what you are hoping to find, and we will do our best.  But we cant look if we dont know who we are looking for, and we dont want to spend time finding things you already have.

Hi all  :)

I think the problem is that she's still unmarried in 1901 (in service, RG13/2364 102 11) and there's no evident marriage in Gloucestershire on FreeBMD  :-\

That's a bit of a pain then!!

When I looked on FreeBMD there was, as you say, no obvious marriage in that area. But plenty of "possible" marriages.
So, apart from waiting for the 1911 census, we will need  further clues, or Scorpio will be sending for marriage certs by the cart load.

First, do you know for sure that she married? If so, does the source that told you that give any more clues as to who, when or where?
One good way to find out what happens to daughters, their married name etc, is to get a will for the parents. HAve you looked for wills for Samuel and MArtha?
Another hint sometimes comes from the marriage certs of siblings - do any of those have a witness called Minnie X?

Update on Minnie Chappell
« Reply #13 on: Saturday 17 May 08 11:10 BST (UK) »
Since my last request I have found some more info on Minnie.
She married Edward Sydney Gulliford in Bristol 1902 but her name was mispelt,(Chapple).  Edward either died or they separated as on her son's, (Clifford), birth cert. the father is William Ambrose Britton.  Minnie is listed as Minnie Annie Britton, late Gulliford formally Chappell.
Still could do with some help finding the date she married William Britton.
Thanks.

Have I got this right, we are looking for a marriage between William Ambrose Britton and Minnie Gulliford? (she would have used her first married name wouldn't she   ???).

So far have looked through 1910-1912 with no luck.

There's this one on Freebmd

Alice Galliford and on same page William Britton

Dec. qtr. 1903 Bristol 6a 318

What was Minnie's second name?  (back to the drawing board I see it was Annie  :-\)

Thanks Keziahemm, I've searched up to 1915 so far without luck. She may not have married this Britton guy but all her children bare his name.
