Ellis, C of I
« on: Saturday 09 August 08 14:00 BST (UK) »
I am looking for my g/grandfather who was John Ellis.  He was born c.1849/50 in Cork, as far as I can make out.  He married Belinda Russell, who was possibly from Limerick.  She seems to just have appeared from nowhere!

Any help would be appreciated.

With thanks,

M!

Belinda is certainly an unusual name for that period.
IGI shows 2 daughters for John and Belinda:
1. Emma Francis born 14 Mar.1878 Co.Limerick
2. Elizabeth born 11 sept.1879 Killeleen district, Co. Limerick

Wasn't sure if you had seen those 2 births. Unfortunately Belinda and John were both born before civil registration of births in Ireland so there will be no birth certificates for either of them.

Found the 2 children by doing a parent search on LDS site (www.familysearch.org). On the advanced search page put in father's Christian and surname and then mother's Christian name (and surname if known) and press search button.

What time-frame are you researching?
My 3rd great-grandmother is Annie Ellis, b. Nov. 11, 1842, daughter of George Ellis.  They were from Clara.
She married Henry McLain Sep 11, 1865 and they were in NY by early 1867.
Have you run into this family at all?
