Help finding death record
« on: Saturday 01 November 08 23:15 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find a death record for Mary Haynes who died around 1915 at the age of 17.

She arrived in Canada in 1906 and was fostered by Stephen and Ella J Trenholm in New Brunswick. They may have moved to Western Canada with Mary, but I'm not sure where and I'm having trouble searching death records. I've even tried to search for the family.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
Staffordshire: Arnott, Haynes, Withington, Griggs
Berwickshire: Hogg
Kinross-shire: Young, Barrie
Western Australia: Matthew Haynes (b.1900, Stafford)

Have you seen them in the 1911 census of Botsford, Westmoreland, NB? They have a son with them, named Arthur, b. 1891, but I can't seem to find him in WWI Canada records.

Can't see her or them in the SK online deaths (but only up to 1917).
No luck with Manitoba online marriages or deaths.
No luck with Alberta online cemetery index.
No luck with BC records.
No luck with Trenholms in US 1920/30 census.
No luck with land records.

http://www.trenholm.org/trenholmNB/WC03/WC03_362.htm - has some info on the Trenholms.  It appears Stephen Edward Trenholm died in 1943 in Oregon. His wife was Ella Jetta Walton.

http://www.heritagetrailpress.com/Death_Index/ - there is a Mary E. Haynes who died in Oregon in 1914.
Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thanks for your help, Jorose.

I've just had a look at http://www.heritagetrailpress.com/Death_Index/  and gone back a generation to find Mary, so it's definitely the right family. Looks like they moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1911 after the census was done. I wonder if she died there?

I'll keep searching

They didn't move in 1911... it was (I think) 1914. Checking against info my family has, Mary's death was possibly in November 1915. It wasn't long after the family moved West.
