Hi ...

Nothing obvious for Elizabeth on FreeBMD.

When was she living in Oxford?  What makes you think she may have been born in Ireland?  Do you have a marriage certificate for her  - which would give father's name/occupation?

Sorry for all the questions, but it's helpful to have all the facts when searching!

Pennie

PS  There is a SPICER family living in Oxford in 1901.  He is a clergyman, and both he and his wife were born in Australia.  Their eldest child (born 1891) was born in Scotland - do you think there could be any connection?  (Sorry - another question!)

Hi Pennie

Thanks for replying to Firthviews post who has been acting on my behalf whilst I got around to registering.  I have a Civil Birth Record for Elizabeth Rose Spicer, born 29/09/1907 in Co. Tipperary, Ireland.  Her father was Charles R Spicer, a Labourer and her mother Mary Margaret O'Brien.  I also have a baptism record, 05/10/1907.  I cannot find a marriage certificate for her parents.  I also have a service record for, courtesy of the Royal Air Force (RAF) when she was in the Womens Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF).  She was discharged in 1942 and her address at that time was Fernhill Road, Oxford.  Her father was recorded as her next of Kin.  She had a baby in 1942 (my father) in Homelands, Great Western Road, Glasgow but their records were destroyed in a fire many years ago.

Any help will be much appreciated.  :)

It's possible that the 1942 Oxford address is somewhere like a hostel for WAAFs and other women in military service.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks Aghadowey.  That could be a possibility.
