Houses in Dublin and Newry
« on: Wednesday 18 February 09 00:35 GMT (UK) »
I don't know if this is the right place to post this but if anyone lives in the following areas and could possibly take pictures in the following locations it would be greatly appreciated.
I am searching for Dr J. Morrison who lived at the following addresses at these times and would be very thrilled to receive any info or pictures that may show the area that he lived and worked in.

107 Lower Baggot St, Dublin (1878)
Hill Street (1836) and Marcus Square, Newry(1852)

Thank you for taking time to read this and hope to hear from someone soon.

Walker + Gill - Derbyshire, England

here's a very small picure of 92 Baggot street... should give an idea of the style of house at least.

from Thoms directories of 1877 & 1880 - in both editions Dr. Morrison is listed at :

in 1884 - No. 107 is vacant

think I may have found him in 1846 (Slaters)

John Morrison, Needham place, Newry - Physician

he's also listed under :

FEVER HOSPITAL, Rathfryland road, Newry
  John Morrison, M.D. physician;
  Miss - Rodham, matron.

could be him again 1870 (Slater's)
in Newry there's :

John Morrison, 8 Trevor Hill - physician
(also listed under - Surgeons &. Apothecaries)

and again at the Fever Hospital - Rathfryland road :

 Secretary—James M'Farland
 Physician—John Morrison, M D.
 House steward—John McMurray
 Matron— Martha McMurray

Shane,
Thanks for all the info. I had some of it but a few new things added to my files. We suspected that he died somewhere around 1882 so this is either correct or he moved form Baggot St during that time.
Once again, thank you for all the info you have sent my way!!

I have a quick question for you. Do you know of any Dublin newspapers that are online from 1880-1885 so I can try and find the death of Dr John Morrison? I would guess he is probably buried in Dublin or Newry.
Thanks again for your help.

The Irish Times archive covers those dates - I had a quick look yesterday and didn't see anything...

might be worth checking the familysearch Irish Civil index - there looked like there was a good prossible match Dr. Morrison's death for South Dublin in the index.
