St Maybn PENROSE Marriage
« on: Saturday 22 August 09 07:22 BST (UK) »
Hi
Just wondering if someone has the records for St Maybn Parish.  I have seen an entry for a marriage for a John PENROSE to a Jane around 1776 and it gave his parish as Broadoak.  I have a John PENROSE who married a Joan HENWOOD and they started to have children around 1768.  I am interested to see if this John PENROSE may have married previously in another parish.  Is there anyway for me to be able to find out if this may be the one and same man?  Any help or thoughts would be so appreciated.
Many thanks.
Regards
Reoinna

Hi
Sorry I wish to apologize......I made a error!

What I mean to say and ask help with is that in St Maybn there was a Parish record for a marriage of John PENROSE from Broadoak to a Jane in 1776.

I would like to know if any one has the records to see if there is more information available.  As I am interested in the PENROSE from Broadoak.  And I have a John PENROSE marrying a Joan HENWOOD.  There was a John PENROSE and a Anne earlier which may be the John who was married in St Maybn.  Basically I dont know who this John PENROSE from Broadoak and his marriage in St Maybn fit's in.  If any one can be bothered after all this rambling I have done to help me shed any kind of light on this I would be much appreciated.

Regards

Hi Reoinna,

John HENWOOD = Joan HENWOOD on the 13 Apr 1768 in Warleggan  :-\

after this I only see a John marrying in St Martin in Menage in 1773 (Joan VINCEN), he was of Manackan. John RENROSE Jr, St Just in Penwith in 1774 (Mary JELBARD) and Rev John PENROSE rector of Cardinham in Camborne in 1778 (Jane TREVENEN) and John PENROSE husbandman in st Col Minor in 1778 (Julian WOOLCOCK)

The only John HENWOOD marriage I can see in Broadoak was in 1798 to Margaret COOK

Cheers Kris  :)

OK I am looking at St Mabyn and there is a marriage in 1766 not 1776

John PENROSE of Broadoak = Jane JOHNS 28 Sep 1766 St Mabyn

he does not appear to list as widowed

Thanks Kris
I appreciate your help and patience trying to understand my jibberish!  Now I have the right date, perhaps this John PENROSE of Broadoak = Jane JOHNS was possibly a previous marriage before John PENROSE  = Joan HENWOOD!

Do the Parish records show deaths or burials as well?

Another question.......There is a  Broadoak record showing a Baptism for a William (1731) and George (1732) who it says parents were John PENROSE and Anne.  Would the acutal parish records show the surname of the Anne or where abouts this couple may have come from......if they were from another Parish etc. Other children.

Is there anywhere I can get information that may show me where they lived eg rates etc? Or I am I chasing a lost cause and wont be able to obtain a bit more information to help piece together a puzzle?

Any suggestion would be welcome.  I have tried getting in touch with the Parish clerks both at St Maybn and Broadoak but the emails bounce back.  Also there is another "Chris"  I note who has used this site on the PENROSE family.  Is there anyway of sending him a message?  Questions, question, questions.  Thanks Kris! ;D

Hi reoinna,

I will send Chris a PM and let him know you are looking to make conatact.

I do note that some of your Broadoak records list John as John Jun.

This is the only John and Anne union I can spot in the timeframe.

John PENROSE of Lanivet = Anne daughter of George ROBERTS of St Mabyn by Licence dated 5 April on the 7 April 1730 at Lanivet.

Any surviving ratesbooks etc would be held by the Cornwall Records Office.

Cheers Kris  :)

Hi Kris,
Many thanks for your kindness.  I appreciate your PM to Chris for me.  The Ann and John PENROSE at Lanivet are the ones I am trying to tie to the Broadoak family.  I will also see if there is any info at the Cornwall Record Office.  I was not sure exactly where to look.  Thanks for the info on the burial of Ann.  Many thanks once again.
Kind regards

I see Chris was recently online so would expect he will be in touch soon.  ;D

You can look at some of the records held at the CRO. You may need to try the name Bradoc/k rather than Broadoak.
