Can anyone help please
« on: Thursday 24 September 09 16:13 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for anyone that can help undo a query I have, my husbands grt grandfather  Joseph Dobson Tempest was b.1896 in Newcastle Upon Tyne he married Alice Edmunds b.1892 Beverly Hull in 1918 in Andover. However I can't find any Military details for him to explain why he would be in Andover.

Can anyone help

Thanking you in-advance

Why is this in WW2? Do you know that he served till then?
Was he an ordinary soldier or an officer?

Just a long shot, but I have discovered an Isabella Tempest marrying into my Nicholsoon line in Newcastle in the early 1800s. The couple were living with an Aaron Tempest at the time of the 1841 census - any possibility of a link?

By 1918 it had become RAF Andover, after being a base for the RFC previously...

Perhaps he was RAF by then and RFC or RNAS during the war
One more charge and then be dumb,

Also if he served post Dec 1920, his records will still be with the MOD

If you get the Marriage cert it should give his occupation . If he was in the services it will probably give his rank and branch or trade instead
