Joseph Wardropper marriage to Mary Jane Collins
« on: Monday 02 November 09 11:42 GMT (UK) »
Hello does anyone have anything in their family trees on the marriage of a Joseph Wardropper to a Mary Jane Collins?  I don't know where or when they were married but they had a son Robert Wardropper born in 1842 in Tonbridge, Kent.  Joseph was an engine driver, and I think (Mary) Jane came from Derbyshire.  Joseph died somewhere before 1846 as Jane then remarried a William Paine Patterson, engine driver, in Bristol.  Jane herself had died before 1860 as William was now married to an Eleanor Bird.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've hit a brick wall sometime ago!
Thanks!

There are banns of marriage in May and June 1843 St George's Southwark for Joseph Wardropper to Jane Collis.  Could this be the one?   Where did you get your information about Robert's parents from originally?  His birth registration shows on www.freebmd.org.uk but it is before the above marriage.  Getting the certificate would sort it of course.

PS More information on post on Kent Board

Andrea you are wonderful!!

I'll try that one, have just sent for a load of certificates from the GRO so will go back onto the site.  I've got Robert Wardropper's birth certificate for Nov 1842 in Tonbridge, it lists his parents as Joseph Wardropper, engine driver, and Jane Wardropper formerly Collis (could be Collins), they don't appear to have an address though as there isn't one on the certificate!

Kind regards
Carol
