WW1(complete thanks )
« on: Monday 16 November 09 04:22 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone,

I found on Archway a Michael Doody WW1 74303 Army military personal file,  I have not ordered the file yet as I am not sure he is mine. Nobody left in the family recalls him serving in the Army. I cannot seem to find his name on any other sites to do with the war, can anybody advise me on a good place to look.

Regards

Hi Leandra,

I have had a look on the WW1 cd and do not see him with  that number 74303 at all

Surname:   DOODY
Given Name:   Michael
Category:   Second Reserves
Last NZ Address:   View Hill West Oxford
Occupation:   Farmer
Classification:   F

Would this be him?

Scrub that. This Michael DOODY  died 1914 so served only one yera or part of that

Hello Althea and Newbe,

Thank you both so much for taking time to help me.  My Doodys are from Oxford, the Michael that died in 1914 was  68 when he died so I suspect it is is son Michael born in 1876 age 38 in 1914. Do the WW CD's provide an age?

There is no age given at all but the one West Oxford has a classification of "F" meaning he had more than 4 children

Hi Newbe,

Thanks for that, he had five kids by 1914, do you think he would have served having that many children?

Cheers

As you will see in my first post that I crossed out he was in the second reserves so he may not have served at all

Someone else may know more
