I can see Ethel (23) with a couple of kids in the 1911 census index (Florence 4, Arthur 2) - could it be that Fred was no longer around?

Deaths Sep 1908
BROOKS    Frederick William    30    Bourn    7a   190

I can't see a Fred W BROOKS born in Lincs 1874-80 - could he have been born out of the county?

In fact the marriage is to be found at http://tinyurl.com/ye5kgag (click on his name to get some detail)

It actually took place at Billingborough
Frederick William BROOKS (son of James) to Ethel MASON (dau of Thomas)
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Lyn,

If his father's name was James Brooks, then how about the family living at 33 Adelaide Street, Oxford St Giles in the 1881 Census - head of the household James Brooks aged 30 born Oxfordshire and son Frederick W aged 3 born Enstone Oxfordshire.  His mother, Elizabeth, the wife of James, was born in Lincolnshire (at Quadring), as was an elder sister (at Folkingham, not that far away from Billingborough).

David.
