Hi Deidre

Did you download a family history programme eg PAF to which you could load the gedcom I did for this family last year?  I no longer have the it on my hard drive as I assumed you would want the information in the file.

Cheers

Thanks Kris.....I did a gedcom on this family which I am positive included this information.  I am definitely not going any further forward.  There will be a bit of a problem finding anything about Robert as he is not the man that Fanny GILL married in 1881.

Perhaps there has been a problem with loading the gedcom onto a family history program.  If so, then I can't help as I no longer have a copy of the file.

Yes I was also convinved Fanny's husband was not the father of these children. They are certainly 2 different men.

I suspect Robert COOK may have arrived 24 Sep 1865 aboard the ELECTRIC

Fanny GILL may have arrived 14 May 1879 aboard the DURHAM

The passenger lists would need to be consulted for ages, origins etc to see if they are in fact likely matches.

Jackeroo, I am afraid that if you are not entering all the information you have been provided with in a program you can easily consult, there is little any of us can do to help you. We have all put a lot of work into your lookups and we just can't keep going over the same things again and again.

Cheers Kris  :)

Deidre a picture speaks a thousand words.  You mentioned on a previous thread Fanny and Robert were buried at Coromandel Valley Cemetery.  Jenn disproved it and gave you the marriage of the couple who are buried there.  I hope you passed the information on to your relatives in South Australia and they are not thinking the above headstone is for their ancestor.

Fanny's 2nd marriage and death at Athelstone as a MADER in 1906 also rules out the above burial.

And that's about it. ::)

FIRST if i knew whether this william mobs book and robert cook were the same person i would not be confused as i now am,
robert and fanny are not buried at coramandel cemetery, this i also know,
the relatives on the davey side know nothing of lucy cook/davey family history and were never told anything like me, they thought like me they were the only family of andre brian davey, and did not know about h aving any living relatives and were quite surprised and confused when i contacted them,

Deidre I am convinced that William Alfred Mobbs COOK and Robert COOK aren't the same person.

William Alfred Mobbs and Fanny GILL did marry in 1881 and obviously it didn't last.  Robert COOK moved in and fairly smartly by the look of things.

You will see that they only married a couple of months before the birth of Sarah. William A M was only 20 years old and probably far too immature for marriage anyway :-X  Both William A M and Fanny were a tad naughty in declaring themselves to be widow/widower on their 2nd marriages when they definitely weren't. :-X  They both committed bigamy unless they had divorced.

I agree it has been a difficult journey for you in researching your family.

Did you manage to download PAF from the family search website and load the gedcom I sent you?

Cheers
