I've spent a long time looking in both Scotland and Eng & Wales for a marriage.   I think the most likely is that it was a Scottish common law marriage and won't be written down; George giving a date and place to the registrar for his own reasons.

It would be nice to be proved wrong and for someone to come up with documentary evidence  of a marriage.

Hi Ann

We've looked for Jessie/Janet/etc.  on the other threads - there were two possibles but you'll have to follow them through the censuses to see if they can still be considered.  I gave you some census info on the other thread to start you off.

you need to log on first then do a search as far as I know, I don't have any units for Scotlands people but I am sure that is the way to go

If you log on then follow instructions, I don't know if you have to buy units at that stage or whether it will search for you then tell you that you need to buy units, I think something like 30 units for £6, giver it a try and see what happens

Hi louise

I think Ann is wanting to know if you've done any searches on SP for her family and, if so, what search criteria you used.

She's already been searching SP for a while for them.

That's been done a few times and nothing has come up - see other threads.

And even without using Jessie's name!

Ann, I and others have already done it and we're used to searching on SP

Perhaps a marriage didn't take place, not unusual
