Brazil: John Ellender

Hi
Can anyone give any advice on looking for a marriage and death in Brazil.
I have found my great uncle John Ellender (Born in Kent 1894) on a couple of passenger lists going to Brazil in 1920 and 1936 on the second occasion he seems to be with a woman I guess must be his wife Maria Ellender.
I have been unable to find either a marriage or death for John in the UK so guess these may have taken place in Brazil but I have no idea where to begin to look!
Any advice would be much appreciated.

There is a UK Deaths Abroad index entry for Ellender, John J in Sao Paulo in 1969 aged 75, volume C page 54

That certainly looks like the same person that is on the passenger list, my only problem is he may not be the John Ellender I thought he was as my great uncle had Henry as his middle name.
The search continues  !!

Ah yes I see that the one on the 1936 passenger list with wife Maria is John Joseph Ellender.
