Henry Oliver Stowell

Hi, I am researching a member of my family who was born in around 1873 in Bolton.  In the 1901 census he is entered as living in Poulton cum Seacombe with his wife Elizabeth and 5 children.  I am struggling to find an actual record of his birth and therefore parents, and also when and where he died.  Can anyone give any advice?  I have tried FreeBMD and have also run searches on Ancestry.co.uk but nothing positive has turned up.

hmmm, the family with the 2 daughters as expected are together in 1871, so this youg man seems to be a genuine Smith!

How would we find out about a name change from Smith to Stowell?  Is it possible that his mother remarried after the death of his father?

thats the usual scenario, but in this case Elizabeth was already with Henry Smith before 1872 and your mans birth - so not sure about this one.
