All of this family are Fishermen, Master Mariners, Smack Owners or Agents for Smack Owners
William Howard Brusey was born in Brixham early 1800's he married Margaret Lennon in 1828 in Liverpool, they had a number of children, Agnes, Emma, Sarah, Elizabeth and William Howard Brusey born 1848 in Brixham, Devon Uk. William jnr can be seen as a child in 1851, and in 1861 with his Dad fishing by using the civil parish "vessels"
The whole family including his uncle Isaac Brusey moved north where they alternated between Hull, Yorkshire and Grimsby, Lincolnshire.
Isaac Brusey also had a son William Isaac Brusey born 1850, Hull, Yorkshire. William Isaac Brusey married Mary Penny Doust also born in Brixham in 1851. The marriage took place in 1871 in Grimsby. They had several children - 3 girls, and two boys they named William Brusey who died in childhood.
In 1871 William Howard Brusey is on the census as Mary P's husband whilst her real husband is fishing - William Isaac is recorded as Brussey. In 1881 William Isaac is correctly recorded as being with his wife Mary P at 167 Cleethorpes Road. Of William Howard Brusey Jnr there is no record. His father is still alive and accounted for (he died in 1882).
I have checked deaths, marriages, emigration to Canada, USA, Australia, NZ, and as many newspapers I can lay my hands on as the family did seem to have a bit of a history that was recorded in the Hull Packet, and from some accounts appeared to be a very toughened family with William Isaac being tried for Manslaughter. I have gone thru all the records held for skippers tickets for William Brusey - but as there so many of them I found it hard to seperate them out. The other thing that could be a pointer is that when William Howard Brusey snr died in 1882 he named his step son as executor of his will.
There is a death for a William Howard Brusey on the new FSbeta site in 1842 - in Kent I have no idea who he is.
Any ideas or help would be really appreciated in finding William Howard Brusey born 1848, Brixham, Devon.
Thank you and I look forward to any fresh eyes, fresh ideas or help.
