I definatly think this family returned to Germany after their loss of John ,may be another roots chatter has access to passenger lists back to Germany for the period 1871 to 1873,

Hi,

Englebert Kuss, born 1875/1876 in Newcastle upon Tyne and the son of Englebert and Mary (Ruff ?) moved to Galway, Ireland.

He continued in the watch and clock making business.  He is listed in the Irish 1901 census as a watchmaker-finisher.  He got married in 1909 and had about six children.

Amazing stuff! Just to add my tuppence worth - Engelbert Jnr of Elswick St. Newcastle and was my great grandfather. He moved to Brews Hill in Navan, Ireland where he ran a jewellers shop. My grandfather, the afforementioned Anthony Joseph (aka Jack) became a barber and moved to Tipperary where he reared a family of 10.
