Help,

I'm looking for the birth/christening of a Rebecca Catherine Lilley some times recorded as Rebecka born c 1847/50 in Nottinghamshire. Her father was called William. She married a Benjamin Taylor c 1868 and when widowed married John Limb c 1872. I can't find a birth record for her anywhere. She died c 1895.I'm grateful for any hints
regards Squinth

1861 census for Greasley - all b  Newthorpe except Ann

William Lilley 64 collier
Ann 60 b Moorgreen
Samuel   27 son unmarried
Rebecca  12 g/dtr
RG9 Piece 2434 Folio 96 Page 11

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874/5 - prior to then, lots of births went unregistered

I strongly suspect Rebecca was illegitimate and that the William shown as her father is actually her grandfather

I can see Alice Lilley...  she is grandaughter in the household of Jonathan & Ann Robinson in Cossall - their widowed daughter Mary Lilley is with them = H0.107/2126/334, page 4

ALICE LILLEY married HENERY CAMM at Cossal - 11th April 1872

This could be William Lilley's marriage to Mary Robinson -  but I don't know where they married as it isn't on the Nottinghamshire FHS CD

Marriages DecQ 1848
Lilley  William     Basford  15 977
ROBINSON  Mary     Basford  15 977
