BBC TV "WDYTYA?" Series 8 Episode #7: Jason Donavan
« on: Sunday 29 August 10 16:14 BST (UK) »
I notice that this weeks WDYTYA Jason Donavan and his search involves Australia, he mentions a William Cox amongst his family members.  So that is where my William Cox  8) went when he wasn't on the 1861 or 1871 censuses, the old rogue. ;D ;D ;D

Will watch with interest. :)

One of the best programmes of the series . Maybe because it brought back memories of a visit to the penal prisons in Tasmania which we visited a few years ago. I thought he came over well in the programme.

I much enjoyed tonights show

Three aspects really - the theatrical career of his great granmother and the contrasting histories of Joseph and Captain Cox

Also though there was an interesting link not followed on some certificate -a mention of Calcutta?

Joseph seems to have been fortunate to get his wife Rosetta over to join him.

Lucky you Ewan!  I thoroughly enjoyed this programme IMHO probably the best episode of the series.  And isn't he lucky to have such interesting and varied ancestors.

He was clearly on the "road to success" (sorry!). Seriously, found it poignant at the end when Jason realised he'd connected back to his Australian roots, via his mother's side, of whom he is estranged. I thought that rather sad.

Not watched it yet.  My OH is usually out on a Monday, but not this Monday, so instead of watching WDYTYA, we watched Marple on ITV.  I've recorded WDYTYA and will watch it tomorrow, hopefully.

I really enjoyed this one, although there aren't many I don't enjoy. Selfishly having a 3 x Gt grandma who was transported to Van Diemens land I wished they'd concentrated on that part a bit more. I was a bit annoyed he kept touching his mouth then the records even having gloves on that should be an obvious no no. The Calcutta on the certificate was interesting and I thought they'd look into that also.
