My last name
« on: Tuesday 26 October 10 21:58 BST (UK) »
My last name is McGiffin and would like to find out more don't have alot of people to ask my grandpa Francis "Mac" McGiffin passed away and my grandma never talked about his side and she has passed. My dad cannot remember much about his side of the family. I have looked on internet but don't know who to contact. I know this is not a popular name so I am wondering if somehow we are related to the other McGiffin's out there? I f anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.  We do not have many boys in the family to carry on the McGiffin name so I am curious about it.

Thanks
Cindy

Those are mine on my grandmas side I know all about them thats all I really ever heard about. I am looking for people on my grandpa's side.  Never heard anything about his family. I never met anyone related to my grandpa.  My dad doesnt remember much about his side. Got a wierd family that doesnt talk much to each other. My dad is kinda the black sheep didnt go into farming like the other two drove semi like my grandpa did and so on, so I dont' have much help from those relatives it was always about my grandma's side of the family.

Hi Cindy

In the 1910 US Census there is this family:

Rockbridge, Richland, Wisconsin

John H SMITH, Head, 51; born Ohio as were his parents; farmer
Ida SMITH, Wife, 49; married 33 years; 5 children; born Ire, English; mother born Scot, English; emigrated 1871
Christie McGIFFIN, Daughter, 28; married 1 year; 1 child; born Wisconsin
Frank McGIFFIN, Grandson, 6/12; born Wisconsin

Could this be them?

Maryam
