New Website for Edinburgh History

The website http://addressinghistory.edina.ac.uk may be of interest to anyone with Edinburgh ancestors. It enables you search on a particular street name and then access large-scale maps from 1784, 1865 and 1905 and the Directory entries for that street.  From a list of the Directory enties for the street etc, you can go to an image of the orginal directory page.

Jessie, Monica,

Thank you both for your interest in the project. I'd love to hear what you think of AddressingHistory and if you find it useful for your research - I've included the various project web presences below but can also be emailed at addressing.history[--at--]ed.ac.uk. Any feedback is helpful for us in thinking about how the site could be developed and improved in the future so is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Nicola Osborne

Hi Nicola

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

A great resource for research you are developing here. Hopefully you will get feedback from RootsChatters as they get familiar with the site.
