lookup request NSW death S.A marriage William Smith BROWN

Hoping somebody could find some information for me about my grand father on my mothers side.

Mum said her father
William smith brown was born in Aberdeen abt 1886
and died in Moree nsw Australia 1953 ish.

He married
Olive Gladys parsons in Adelaide Australia 1919 she died at our home when I was young in 1972 age 79

any help would be much appreciated

There are a number of births to Wm Smith and Olive on the South Australian indexes to 1928 and there is a possibility that these people may be still living so I will pm them.

This the only Wm Smith BROWN birth on the SA indexes and your Wm Smith BROWN was 33 when he married in 1919 so born c1886

thank you for your help, yes william smith Brown was definitely born in scotland Aberdeen says mum.

you have found his death in moree 1953 age 67 that puts his birth abt 1886 scotland.

so looking at the marriage his father was james..........another step back, thankyou

the electoral roll info is most interesting, mums going to have a heart attack now because she knows very little about her dad she only ever knew where he was born and died.

Did a search on  http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/  and found the following birth..
1 1885 BROWN WILLIAM SMITH M ALFORD /ABERDEEN 171/00 0048
So you can now have a look at his birth cert..  It will cost 6 pounds for 30 credits and after you get his parents names on cert you will be able to go back further

On the other thread foolishly I was for some reason searching 1860 to 1870..  at work and very tired.

All of Scotland 1880 to 1890 there are 9 William Smith Browns born.  The only one remotely near Aberdeen is the one identified by Sid and he is born on the 6th Oct 1885 in the village of Alford which is about 20 + miles to the west.  At the time it was the heart of a very busy farming community.

WSB was born to James Brown, Hotel Keeper/farmer (Hotel was the Haughton Arms which still exists on the main street), and his wife Maggie Brown (M.S. Barron).   They were married on Sept 17th or 18th 1876 - St Nicholas, Aberdeen (difficult to make out the date on the entry).
