A good place to start is with a copy of the marriage certificate which will give her father's name and occupation and witness names which might be family members.

Order from https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp quoting registered at Kensington June quarter 1884 volume 1a page 323.

Hello again,

I've just noticed that I was posting on a 'completed' thread  ::) Yes please let us know the outcome of the marriage cert. There is no sign of her anywhere.
In 1901 there is a Charles Geoghegan b 1850 Guernsey, living in London but no sign of him either in earlier censuses.

No Geoghegans in Channel Islands.

I was wondering if she was the child of a soldier or similar and then went off somewhere but you think she settled in Kensington  ???

I think I have found her in 1891 and 1901.

1891: The surname has been transcribed as Parker but looks like Parkin
London - 31 Golbourne Gardens, Kensington
Ref: RG12/0029/~F101

Alfred Park... age 56 born Buckinghamshire, it's been transcribed as  Shalstone but I'm not convinced looking at the image.  Bootmaker
Elizabeth Park... age 37 born Guernsey. Shopkeeper
Maria Park... age 13 born Marylebone. scholar
Francis Park... age 6 born Kensington. scholar
Winifred Park... age 4 born Kensington
Donald Park... age 2 born Kensington
Henry Park... age 1 born Kensington

1901: Parkins
Hampshire - 3 Sophia Place, Portsmouth and Mid Southsea
Ref: RG13/1003/~F8

Alfred Parkins age 64 born Shalston, Buckinghamshire. shoemaker bootmaker
Elizabeth Parkins age 47 born Guernsey
Francis Parkins age 16  born Kensington, Middlesex. fancy dealer's shop assistant
Winifred Parkins age 14 born Kensington, Middlesex.
Ronald Parkins age 12 born Kensington, Middlesex.
Henry Parkins age 11 born  Kensington, Middlesex.
Morris Parkins age 9 born Portsmouth, Hampshire.
Arthur Parkins age 7 born Portsmouth, Hampshire.

I might have her in 1881  :)

1881: 10 Robert Street, St George Hanover Square, Middlesex

Elizabeth Geoghegan widow age 27 Born Guernsey St (?) Sampson
Maria F Geoghegan daughter age 3 born Marylebone, Middlesex

if this is her would suggest that Geoghegan is her married name. The marriage certificate should (hopefully) give her maiden name.

I'll keep looking around, see what else comes up

That looks good Pebs  :)  The child Marie also fits with 1891 census.

Free BMD has a birth:Jun 1877   Marylebone  1a 560

Marie Frances Geoghegan

and a marriage Jun 1876    Marylebone  1a 1093

Edward Henry Geoghegan
but the spouses don't have an Elizabeth  :(

Great minds heywood ;)

I also have been playing about with FreeBMD to little avail.

I think I will sleep on this and hope for inspiration in the morning  ;)
