looking for william cotton, on 1901 census he gave his birth place as bristol england,irish census,born approx1862.also a george alexander mclean,born approx1884,not to sure where in england any assistance appreciated

on 1901 irish census william cotton gave his occupation as a blacksmith,he gave his age as 39 so born approx 1862?.he married ?and had a child aged 5 on 1901 census,so i am assuming that he left england around 1880-1890,is there any records to follow this up thank you
